Task Numbero Uno:
Name someone who inspires me?
This was quite hard because i don't really have anyone who inspires me so i will go for someone who i have a lot of respect for.
And who is that?
Well it is former England All-Rounder Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff. The hero of the ashes. The man to revive english cricket. The man with the brittle knees. The man on the pedalo? But who he is?
This is the man who got me into cricket watching him destroy the Aussies was brilliant and watching some of the batsmen playing against him you could see the fear in their eyes at playing against him. And as a batsmen he could smash any bowling unit with beautiful cricket shots and raw power. But unfortunately injury overshadowed his whole career but every time he got knocked back he always came bouncing back and that is what i respected about him he would run though a brick wall his country even if he was on his last knees. His last match for England was known for his run out of Aussie captain Ricky Ponting and he threw those massive arms up in celebration.
Born in Lancashire in 1977 he made his first class debut for Lancashire for in the 1995 season and made his England test debut in 1998 against South Africa and his first wicket was another giant all rounder Jacques Kallis. He endured a bit of frustration after this with critics focusing on his weight issues but he kept going and it was until 2004 he really released the shackles where at Edgbaston where against the west indies he smashed a brilliant 167 then he took the form into the 2005 Ashes i remember watching as kid thinking wow just wow the brilliance of the English side who against an Aussie side who were really at the top of there game was amazing to watch. Before the ashes started he had ankle surgery a few months before and he picked upself up to have a brilliant series again at Edgbaston he beat Beefy's record for sixes in an ashes innings with nine in total and he then took seven wickets as England won the match by two runs and what is known as one of the best test matches of all time. This image was took after the defeat.
After this he was injured more then he played he was England captain as England lost 5-0 and his career was on the downhill but in 2009 he picked himself one more time for the Ashes knowing it would be his last contribution for England and he didn't disappoint getting a brilliant five wicket haul at Lords and then his final game the run out of Ricky Ponting sparked the winning of the Ashes of the great Freddie Flintoff ended on a high.
After the 2009 Ashes his ankles and knees could take no more and the great man had to retire at the tender age of 31. He played 79 tests and had 3845 runs at an average of 31.77 and took 226 wickets at an average of 32. He also played 141 ODI with 3394 runs with an average of 32 and took 169 wickets at an average of 24. He has since become a big media personality appearing in adverts for Morrisons and had his own Tv show he then also had a come back into sports as a ...... Boxer. For me is a true English hero someone kids look up to he might of had some low moments but for me Andrew Flintoff was a legend and someone who shows even when you are on your last legs keep trying and it really is inspriational
